What are Segments?
What it IS: A Segment is a label or a "tag" that you create to categorize groups of clients. For example, you could create segments like "Roofers," "High Budget Businesses," "New Clients," or "Clients in California." This label acts as a bridge, connecting a specific marketing offer (a Boost) to the clients who should see it.
What it IS NOT: A Segment is not the same as a general-purpose contact tag used for internal CRM filtering. While it functions like a tag, its specific purpose is to control the content your clients see within their HubOne Boost portal.
What are Boosts?
"Boost" refers to the promotional content you display to your clients in their HubOne portal. There are two main types of Boosts you can customize with Segments:
The Dashboard Boost: This is the prominent promotional banner that appears on your client's main dashboard. It's the first thing they see and is great for high-visibility offers like a "4th of July Special."
The Boost Sections (Services): These are the individual service cards that appear in the "storefront" area of the Boost portal. This is where you can list specific services, like "Google Local Service Ads," and make them visible only to relevant segments.
Follow these three main steps to set up and launch a targeted campaign.
Step 1: Create Your Segments
First, you need to define the groups you want to market to.
Navigate to the Boost Sections area in your marketing menu.
Click on the Segments tab at the top of the page.
Click the blue Add a new Segment button.
In the pop-up that appears, enter a name for your segment. Be descriptive (e.g., Roofers, High budget businesses).
Click Create Segment.
Repeat this process for all the different client groups you want to target.
Step 2: Create Segment-Specific Boosts and Services
Now, create the custom marketing content for the segments you just made.
To Customize the Dashboard Boost:
Go to the Boost on Dashboard tab.
At the top, you'll see a dropdown menu labeled Segments. By default, it's on Default View. The Default View is what everyone sees unless they belong to a more specific segment.
Click the dropdown and select the segment you want to create a special offer for (e.g., "High budget businesses").
The page will now let you configure a unique Dashboard Boost for that segment. Customize the:
Header image / video
Title (e.g., "Exclusive Offer for Industry Leaders")
Button Text and Button URL
Click Save. Only contacts in the "High budget businesses" segment will see this version of the dashboard boost. Everyone else will see the "Default View."
To Create a Segment-Specific Service:
Go to the Boost Sections tab.
Click the blue Add a new Service button (or edit an existing one).
Fill out the service details: Service Name, Service Title, content, button text, etc.
Locate the Segments field. By default, it's set to show to all segments.
Click in the field and select the segment(s) you want this service to be visible to. For example, you could create a "Google LSA for Roofers" service and assign it only to the Roofers segment.
Click Save. This service will now only appear in the Boost portal for contacts who have been assigned to the "Roofers" segment.
Step 3: Assign a Contact to a Segment
The final step is to tell the system which contacts belong to which segments.
Navigate to the Contacts list and select the contact you want to segment.
Go to the Products tab and add a product to the contact (e.g., a "HubOne subscription").
During the product setup process, you will reach a step called Fill intake form.
On this form, you will find a Segments field. Click it and select the segment(s) this contact belongs to (e.g., Roofers). You can assign a contact to multiple segments.
Finish creating the product.
Now, when this contact logs into their HubOne portal, they will see the specific Dashboard Boost and the unique services you created for the "Roofers" segment. You can edit a contact's segments at any time by going into their product details.
